| Model Number | GRIT3 |
| Particle Size Range | 1/4" x 1/8" (6.35mm x 3.18mm) |
| Volume | 0.5 cubic feet |
| Weight | 50 pounds |
| Material | Natural graded gravel media |

Loading and Backwash Setup
- Clean and inspect the filter vessel interior before loading media. Remove any debris or residual material from previous installations.
- Add GRIT #3 gravel evenly into the vessel as the support layer, typically installed first before finer media grades or carbon. Pour slowly to prevent compaction or settling issues.
- Level the media bed surface and install upper distributor assembly according to vessel manufacturer specifications. Ensure proper freeboard clearance.
- Perform initial backwash cycle at recommended flow rate to remove fines and properly classify the gravel bed before placing system into service.
System Applications
GRIT #3 media gravel is compatible with backwashing multimedia filters, greensand iron removal systems, activated carbon vessels, and birm filters requiring a coarse support layer. This 1/4" x 1/8" size is ideal for preventing finer media migration into underdrain laterals while maintaining hydraulic flow during service and backwash cycles. Use in residential whole-house systems, commercial filtration skids, municipal water plants, and industrial process water applications. Compatible with fiberglass, steel, and polyethylene pressure vessels rated for water filtration service.
